Soul retrieval

The slideshow of photos by Terry Donnelly (© 2017 Terry Donnelly) give glimpses of a soul retrieval session in the workroom. In-person sessions begin with the talking part, the client and I sitting in comfy chairs as the concerns and life stories are shared, and energy begins to move. I 'see' the energy, and begin receiving guidance from my helpers, which helps us form the intent for the journey part. Soul loss and power loss are aspects of wholeness that are often addressed in a session. Whether a soul retrieval is part of the work or not is not always shown beforehand, but in this case it was.

Soul retrieval is a shamanic service in which a soul part or parts are found and brought back—retrieved—for the client. Soul parts fragment, become stuck, flee, or are stolen through life events that are often traumatic in nature. I am shown what is needed by the helpers, in the journey portion of the session, do the work and return the retrieved soul part and retrieved energy to the client.

After the talking part, when we have the intent, I select and smudge the crystals and stones calling out for the work, smudge us both, and drum to go into the shamanic state of consciousness, while the client is comfy with pillow and blanket. Then I journey and do what is shown for me to do. There aren't any photos of this part of the session, where I am straddling worlds and collecting energy and information to bring back. After the journey, I do any energetic work on the body, and return the energies and soul part(s) brought back.

To finish, we talk about what happened during the journey, to both of us, and whatever is coming up for the client to integrate it all, as more energy is transforming. A two hour session encompasses all of this, usually to the minute, although I don't think about time or look at a clock during the session.

Clients continue to integrate returned soul parts and feel the difference from the work over days, weeks, and longer. You can't return all lost power or soul parts in one session, it's too much. I've had many soul retrievals, personally, over the past twenty-odd years. Restoring wholeness is a prime shamanic service; the return of power, lost along the way, is a major healing function of shamanic work, and affects the physical, emotional, mental, and subtle bodies.

You can read what it's like and other client testimonials to get an idea of how soul retrievals and other session work affects you.

Many thanks to the client and photographer for wanting to see what came out on film, including visible energy and even some shapeshifting!
